Weekend Adventure

We spend most of our weekends at Tagaytay Highlands where the kids would enjoy numerous outdoor activities and endless adventures. For working parents like us, it is a good retreat and a quiet refuge after a week’s hustle-bustle in the city – a bonding time with the kids. From our home at BF Resort, it takes about 1-1/2 hours to reach Highlands via Sta. Rosa Exit which makes it as a perfect and convenient getaway during weekends.

Tagaytay Highlands is an exclusive community where access is limited to members and member-accompanied guests only. It is surrounded by luscious greeneries and had a captivating view of the Taal Lake. To better appreciate the beauty and serenity of Tagaytay Highlands, try its cable car ride – a slow ride which will bring you to the highest peak of Highlands and see the scenery on a bird’s eye view perspective.
Usual outdoor activities of the kids include swimming, horseback riding, bikingor simply hiking. It has a sports center where you can play basketball, badminton, billiards, bowling, table tennis and computer games. For kids, there is an indoor playground where they can play around and flex their muscles.
We stay at The Horizon, a medium-density residential condominium inside Tagaytay Highlands. It is terraced on gently sloping terrain with the majestic of Mt. Makiling mountains, the spectacular and expansive views of Taal Lake and Volcano, as your backdrop.
We normally leave for Tagaytay Highlands during Friday afternoon after office hours, or early morning of Saturday, and stay there until late Sunday afternoon. We would bring pre-cooked foods for our first meal. I prepare breakfast as my share in the household chores, while Pia prepares our lunch and dinner.
Sunday lunch, most often than not, is always a choice of restaurants inside Highlands.
While preparing for breakfast, Jun2 and Anjun are already busy exploring the neighbors with their bikes.
Family activities include group swimming either at Highlands or at Horizon’s eternity pool.

At night, its DVD movie time for the whole family.

We hear mass together as a family during Sundays (11 AM to 12 noon) – and the chapel is nestled in the middle of natural green sceneries.
As part of the family bonding, we don’t normally bring household helps except once a month to do the general cleaning of the condo unit. Patrese and Mica would take turns in washing the dishes and in fixing the Girl and the Boy’s room.

As Wii and other computer games are a no-no during school days, kids brought all their computer gadgets including the rock band. Patrese and Mica would play the 2 guitars; Jun2 and Anjun alternate in the drums; with me as the lead singer. Pia and Bonjun serve as back-up dancers or simply our audience.

In between their activities, kids together with their Ate Tin-tin would surf the net; or simply watch any of the 72 cable TV channels available.

We always look forward to our weekend adventures at Highlands. Indeed, it is a home away from home. xxx

  1. Hi Pitong,

It is really nice to see a wonderful, happy family, particularly of a kababali. You and Pia are definitely raising your kids well. You are not only a good lawyer, a funny yahoo group moderator, but a great family man as well.

Congratulations and may you continuously increase your tribe!
